Rates and seasons
Use rate bands to change nightly prices for selected dates. Dates outside any band use the product price, so a property with one year-round rate needs no bands.
Edit bands on the Rates tab in Bookings. The tab appears when the store has a property configured for nightly stays.
Before you begin
kahunacart.bookings.viewto read the rate card,kahunacart.bookings.manageto change it.- A product whose booking rule is set to Nightly stay, with a price on it. See Getting started.
Standard nightly price
The product or selected option price is the standard nightly rate. It applies whenever no rate band matches the date.
Options can have different nightly prices, such as $139.00 for Room only and $159.00 for With breakfast. The quote uses the selected option. See Products.
Create a rate band
Bands may overlap. For example, create a Winter band and a higher-priority Christmas week band within it.
The band further down the list takes priority. Use the arrows to reorder bands, then check the resulting nightly prices in the timeline.
Give each band a recognisable name and a start and end date. Both dates are inclusive and use the property’s timezone.
Additional band rules
| A weekend rate | A separate price for selected weekdays within the band. Defaults to Friday and Saturday nights, based on the night’s starting date. |
| Its own shortest stay | A minimum for stays arriving within the band, such as seven nights in August. |
| Its own arrival days | Saturday arrivals for the weeks that band covers, and any day the rest of the year |
| A percentage instead of a price | A percentage of the standard nightly price, which adjusts when that price changes. |
Bands can override minimum stays and arrival weekdays only. Maximum stays and departure weekdays use the property rules. See A stay’s rules.
Percentage rates
Enter the total percentage of the base rate, not the percentage increase.
For a 30% increase, enter 130. For a 20% reduction, enter 80.
The allowed range is 1–1000. Entering 30 charges 30% of the base rate, not a 30% increase. Because 30 is valid, check the resulting price before saving.
| What you mean | What you type |
|---|---|
| Thirty per cent more than usual | 130 |
| Half as much again | 150 |
| Double | 200 |
| A fifth off | 80 |
| Half price | 50 |
Percentage bands always use the base product or option price. They do not compound with lower-priority bands.
Example rate card
bin/plugin kahunacart-rentals seed rental creates this example rate card:
| Band | Dates | A night | At the weekend | Shortest stay | Arrivals |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard rate | last year to three years out | $249.00 | $289.00 | the property's | any day |
| High summer | 15 June to 7 September | $329.00 | — | 7 nights | Saturdays |
| Christmas week | 20 December to 2 January | $399.00 | — | 5 nights | any day |
In this order, the bands produce $249.00 standard nights, $289.00 standard Friday and Saturday nights, $329.00 in high summer and $399.00 over Christmas.
A winning band supplies all pricing for its nights. High summer has no weekend override, so it does not inherit the Standard band’s weekend price. Add a weekend price to High summer if needed.
Review the annual rate timeline
The timeline at the top of the Rates tab shows the year’s bands and the resulting nightly prices. Use it to check seasonal coverage and unintended overlaps.
Check a stay quote
Below the timeline, enter arrival, departure and guest count, then press Price it. The quote shows nightly rate groups, extra guests, cleaning, the total and the amount due today. It creates no hold or booking.
Quotes use the same engine as the guest calendar. Unavailable stays return the same reason, such as a seven-night minimum, Saturday-only arrivals or the gap rule.
To request the same quote from the command line, run:
bin/plugin kahunacart-rentals nights beach-house --quote 2026-10-08..2026-10-14 --guests 6
The output groups nights by rate and lists extras, the total, payment due today and the balance deadline. Without --quote, it lists the month’s nights. Add --explain for unavailable-date reasons. See CLI.
Pricing rules
A band that matches no nights has no effect. The editor rejects an end date before the start date, but check the timeline to confirm the band covers your intended dates.
Rate edits do not change existing quotes or purchases. The quote is fixed when dates are held. See Taking payment.
Sales leave the cleaning fee unchanged. They apply to nights and extra guests. See Sales and Guests and fees.
Price lists do not apply to rental stay quotes. Set rental prices through the rate card. See Pricing.
In more than one currency
On a store that sells in more than one currency, a band with a price a night has a box for that price in each other currency, and so does its weekend price. The property's own price in a currency is set on the product, next to the one in your own.
A band with no price in a currency cannot price a night in it, so the nights it covers are not available in that currency until somebody types one. It does not fall back to the property's price or to a cheaper band. The tab says which bands are missing which currency, under the year.
A percentage band needs nothing in other currencies, because it is a share of whatever the property costs there. The try-it box prices a stay in whichever currency you pick. Selling in more than one currency has the whole rule.
