Point of sale

Turn a tablet or laptop into a till for your shop. Scan or tap products, take cash and card payments, print receipts, take returns and count the drawer at the end of the day.

Point of sale

What the Point of Sale add-on does, how a till works with your store, and the screens it adds to the KahunaCart admin.

Getting started

From an installed add-on to your first sale at the till, in eight steps.

Registers and devices

Add a register for each till, give it a location and a card reader, and pair a tablet to it.

Staff and PINs

Who can sell, take returns and manage the till, how PINs and the lock screen work, and how a manager approves a single action.

Selling

Search and scan products, use the favourites grid, pick options, give discounts, apply coupons, attach customers, and park or void a sale.

Taking payment

Take cash with change, a card on the register's reader, store credit, a gift card or a pay link, split a sale across them, take what an earlier order still owes, and give the customer a receipt.

Returns

Take things back over the counter and refund them to the original payment, to cash or to store credit, with the refund shown before you confirm it.

Shifts and cash

Open a shift with a float, move cash in and out, run the X report, close with a blind count and read the Z report.

Reports

Counter sales over a period, grouped by register, staff member, location or payment type, with a CSV download.

Hardware today

The printers, barcode scanners and card readers the till works with now, and what is not there yet.

No offline mode

The till needs the shop to work. This is what it shows when the connection drops and what to do about it.

Settings reference

Every config key in kahunacart-point-of-sale.yaml with its default and what it does, grouped as the settings screen groups them, including the till's colour, logo and light or dark, plus the two KahunaCart settings the till shares.

FAQ

Short answers to the questions shop owners ask about the till, from card readers to forgotten PINs.

Developers

The permissions, the till routes and manager routes, the MCP tools, the events, the jobs, the notifications, the tables and the export sets the Point of Sale add-on registers.
