Release notes, feature updates and development news from the KahunaCart team.
Every KahunaCart release gets a post here with what changed and why, written for the people who run stores on it rather than as a changelog. A minor version (1.2 to 1.3) adds features and keeps every existing setting, template and add-on working; a patch (1.2.6 to 1.2.7) fixes things and changes nothing you would notice. Updates arrive through the Grav Package Manager or the admin, and the release notes for each one are also in the plugin's own changelog.
The big change in KahunaCart 1.6 is under the hood. Every storefront page is now made of blocks, and a theme only overrides the ones it wants to change. We built nine themes on it while we were at it. Three of them come free with every license and the other six are business themes you can buy, and all nine have a live demo you can poke around in.
Our new Point of Sale add-on turns a tablet, a laptop or a phone into a till on your own site. Take cash or a card on a Stripe, Square or SumUp reader, take returns, and count the drawer at closing. Every sale is an ordinary KahunaCart order, on the same stock as your website.
Our new Affiliates add-on lets bloggers, podcast hosts and happy customers sell for you. Each partner gets a link, a coupon code or both, their sales are credited to them, and one batch pays everyone at the end of the month. No outside service, no spreadsheet.
Our new Print on Demand add-on connects Printful, Printify and Gelato to your store. They print it, pack it and post it. You never touch the stock, and by default every order waits for your OK before anything is printed or charged.
One store, several currencies: you type a price in each one, shoppers browse and pay in their own, and every order stays in the currency it was placed in.
On the same benchmark server, a category page on MariaDB went from 69 requests a second to 189. Here's what a profiler found, the search bug that had been running in every benchmark we took, and what you need to do to get all of it.
Two new add-ons let your shop sell time as well as things. Bookings takes appointments and classes and gives your staff a front desk. Rentals adds nightly stays on top, with seasonal rates, deposits and calendar sync with Airbnb, VRBO and Booking.com.
Our new Shipping add-on connects Shippo, EasyPost and ShipEngine to KahunaCart, with live carrier rates, box packing, shipping labels and parcel tracking in your store admin.
The cart is open, 1.2.8 is on GPM, and the first 50 customers still get 50% off and the founders renewal rate. Here is what you get and how to have a shop running in an hour. (Early access ended on 13 October 2026.)
