Order emails aren't being sent

KahunaCart never sends email in the middle of a checkout. Every email goes onto the job queue. A storefront page usually sends the emails it queued straight after it has loaded, and the background worker started by Grav's scheduler sends everything else. When emails do not arrive, one of those pieces is missing.

Find where it stops

  1. Check the job queue:
BASH
bin/plugin kahunacart status
What Jobs: shows What it means
pending keeps growing The worker is not running. Grav's scheduler is not in cron. See How do I set up Grav's scheduler?
failed above zero The worker runs, but sending fails. See Jobs are failing.
Neither The emails were handed to your mail server. Check the recipient's spam folder, and your mail server's own logs.
  1. Open the order in the admin. Its history records email.queued when an email goes onto the queue and email.sent once the mail server has taken it. A queued entry with no sent entry is a message that never left.

The KahunaCart → Operations → Email log screen lists every message queued for a customer, with its result.

Check the Email plugin

KahunaCart sends through Grav's Email plugin. It must be installed, enabled and pointed at a mail server that can deliver.

  1. Install it if it is missing: bin/gpm install email.
  2. In its settings, choose SMTP for most hosts, and enter your mail server's details.
  3. Set a From address on your own domain. Mail without one is usually treated as spam.

bin/plugin kahunacart check tests all of this in its Mail transport and Scheduler checks.

Send one again

Open the order, click Send email…, and pick the message to send again.
