Customers see "The file is temporarily unavailable"

This message means the customer's download link is valid, but the store cannot read the file behind it.

Find the problem

  1. Check the log. The failure is recorded with the grant and the path it pointed at:
BASH
grep kahunacart logs/grav.log | tail -50
  1. Check every product file at once:
BASH
bin/plugin kahunacart downloads:check

It says whether a file is missing, or is there but outside the folders downloads may be served from.

Fix it

Cause Fix
The file is missing Upload it again on the product.
The download folder was moved (downloads.path changed) Move the files back, or add the old folder to downloads.allowed_roots.
A symlink in the files folder points somewhere else Move the files, or add that location to downloads.allowed_roots.

The failed attempt already counted against the customer's download limit.

Downloads 404 or come back empty

If downloads fail with a 404, an empty file, or a file path shown as text, the delivery method is set to xaccel or xsendfile and the web server is not configured for it. Set downloads.method to php while you sort it out. See Digital products → Delivery methods.
